These sacred words are repeatedly used in meditative practices as a means to awaken to the Divine. When working with this mantra we soften the reasoning mind helping us live freely and blissfully. It’s literal translation pays homage to God Shiva, who taught the science of hatha yoga. However for a higher meaning Shiva refers not to a deity but to the divine power of consciousness itself, which is the ultimate basis and essence of all reality. This mantra can be fairly translated as “Om. I bow to the Divine within or to the Innermost Self”. Transform with this mantra, and transcend to the Higher Self.
