The powerful images of mixed-media artist Robert Sturman have a vivid presence that is both other-worldly and deeply rooted in the earthly wonders he has explored so adventurously in his global travels. Sturman’s work within the Yoga community began as Teacher Profiles for Yogi Times Magazine and since then has evolved into a massive body of work celebrating asana and soul — including many of the teachers at Exhale Sacred Movement. The official visual artist of 2005’s 47th Annual GRAMMY® Awards, Sturman has formal training as a painter and photographer. Sturman developed and refined an improvisational, labor-intensive process that synthesizes both his photographic and painterly expertise. Each of his pieces begins as a Polaroid SX-70 print. While the emulsion is still fluid, Sturman carves into the surface, resulting in a fusion of painting and photography that has won him accolades around the globe. Robert Sturman has been holding solo exhibitions in the USA since 1998 and in 2009 he was chosen by the city of West Hollywood as their official artist to commemorate their 25th anniversary.
In addition, in 2009, Sturman was chosen by FIFA to represent America as an official artist for the 2010 World Cup soccer games held for the first time on the African continent.
